@wompeter. I wouldn't blame the "Mentor." I would blame the public which was offered ballads like this and rejected them. I enjoy the uptempo tunes of Kathy as well but then I'm out of tune with the English preferences in music most of the time.
She was capable of singing with great subtlety and tenderness--too bad most of her repertoire was all about "belting it out,"which is probably why the public tired of her at some point. Someone To Watch Over Me is KK at her best. Too bad her "mentor" had poor musical taste.
she was a fav of mine , big voice, beautiful looks , and tons of charm . im sorry i didnt know she had passed away :(
