Having been Fascinated by the Pentax Q since it was first announced, it's been a long and ridiculous road to get my hands on one... and it's STILL not right.

New sydney Camera Store store to avoid; "Dirt Cheap Cameras" on York st... useless snarky staff.

and despite the issues I've had getting the PentaxQ through them, the service at digidirect on King st has always been pretty good.

  • Seems like a lot of guys working at camera stores aren't really happy with their jobs:P

  • @hattrickster33 Indeed. Lucky for me I know a couple guys at good stores who happen to enjoy their jobs.

  • That Olympus have a hard time focusing on anything. Nice image quality though.

  • @SquirrelFromGradLife Actually, with Olympus lenses it's very very good, I was using a Panasonic lens (which is superb for stills, but not so great with constant tracking exposure for video).

  • Gotta say, it sounds like you handled the camera's order thing very well. A lesser man would have been mad at the camera store.

  • @LOTRzagorath Like I said, it was hardly their fault... their online ordering system worked, they requested the correct items from their supplier, they invoiced me correctly, they were simply sent the wrong items from their supplier/distributor, nothing they could have done, not their fault, and they were eager get things fixed up as quickly and painlessly as possible. (still waiting on that part). No point blowing up at them.

  • You can really speak very fast.

  • I thought I'd grasped the idea of how small it is on video the first time I watched, but when I saw it in my local Camera House I thought it was a toy model thing. It's minuscule!

  • if i worked at a camera st-actually ANYWHERE at this point in these economic times i wouldn't make the customers A.K.A the people who could determine whether or not i work the next day aside from management upset

  • LOL!

I agree that all brands should seek new ideas and designs - I'm an ex Pentax man (Pentax MX) and used the classic Auto 110 during the 1980's -it was fun, prints were crap but the slides weren't bad. My point was really aimed at Nikon rather than Pentax. I just think that with new players like Sony, Samsung and Panasonic some of the classic camera brands are in danger - perhaps most of all Pentax (which is a great pity). Not anti Pentax - far from it.

  • @mikeismad61 they didn't make a mistake, they did it right, like apple they make the first pay a premium just so they can feel special....and broke, then once the price drops they make more profit later on, but the people who bought it first also bring in good profits

  • lol that story was hilarious your hilarious blunty keep it up i still remember the bubble rap video fuicking hilarious

  • Note that Jessops are ALREADY offering a package worth £300 off anyone buying the new V1 - kind of proves that Nikon now understand that they have got the price WRONG ! Good luck Nikon selling many after the 1st rush - your gonna need it ! Think the same will happen with the Pentax Q - too small a sensor and too expensive

  • Great video, looking forward to the review

  • Been working in camera store for years. I have to say I sympathise with your description, but for the most part I had it in reverse, with the wining and nagging.
