Rust Peeks Through- Strawberry Field Liverpool

I visited the Strawberry Field gates in the Fall of 2009 and what struck me immediately was how shiny, how liquid the red paint looked. The gates looked brand new, but as I got closer I could see the paint cracking and lifting due to the rust beneath the paint. Anyway, it stuck in my head and I later wrote this song using the paint and rust contrast as a statement on life. It seems that no matter how much new paint you put on the gates the rust will always be there to remind us about the past.
