I finally figured out a way to safely cut tiny pieces of wood.

Notice that the sawdust chips do not fly in my face.

  • like the man says in the posts before me,....WHY?????

If this is the best you could come up with,..keep your day job.

But, You won't be needing that cut very much and you are NOT a professional

carpenter, cabinet/furnituremaker or else you would know that. You would also know the sequence of dressing and cutting wood to the final smalls that you may really need for what I don't know.

Likely you think high of yourself and the rest are dummies. It is NOT smart.

No pro would copy it or use it

  • Since the video, I now use the saw by standing on its side in line with the axis of the blade and with the stock clamped down.

I don't know any safer way of cutting with a power saw.

  • Thanks,

I now cut standing besides the saw in line with the axis of the blade. I am out of the way of everything, including the saw dust. I recently improved the clamp and it really holds tight.

I can't think of a safer way to saw wood.

  • safer, my ass.

  • Wise crack!

  • I had it on and I decided that off was safer and more effective used in the manner ithat I use the saw.

  • Sorry but that looks insanly dangerous

  • This looks like a terrible accident about to happen.

  • I have read some of your comments & have come to the conclusion that if you are so worried about kickck or whatever, you might consider another hobby. - I noticed your comment about using a band saw to make cuts standing @ the axis, "I now cut standing besides the saw in line with the axis of the blade.". - You are still not safe because if the band saw breaks, it could shoot through you when it breaks. The safest bet is to go sit in your recliner in front of the TV an pray it doesn't explode.

  • Don't try this at home!

  • Absolute stupid and dangerous way to us a radial arm saw. And that's giving you the benefit of the doubt!

  • Most usually rip stock in length to the correct dimension,1/4,3/8,7/16,etc, then, rip for width, or the other way around. A sacrifice throat is used in the saw or a sacrifice table is laid upon the saw table with the blade protruding. You have roughly dimensioned your stock.

Next you cut small pcs to length, TAS, RAS , Mitre Box, Band Saw. wear a full face shield and do not "capture" the small pc being cut if production cutting. Use an appropriate blade. Some dimension stock using a planer.

  • great build!! i normally cut small pieces freehand or with a block , this method seems much safer. i am going to make that asap.. ill post a video when its done. i just need to figure out how to build it around my 15' steel rip fence
