[How To] Create Amazing Effects with the "Write On" Effect in Adobe After Effects

If Adobe After Effects would be recognised for something, it would definately be for the things you can do with it. You can almost create anything with it, anything that comes to your mind, should be done with After Effects, and thats because its a very powerfull application for applying effects and creating incredible motion graphics scenes.

Today you will learn (or may learn) how to use a very powerfull effect called "Write On" which creates the illusion that if you would be writing on a sheet of paper with your pen or pencil. Although it's not too hard to use, there are some things you need to know in order to use it properly, and it is today that I'm going to tell them to you.

You may say "yeha, I knew how o do this effects with another AE effect" and you may be right. There are a lot of ways you can reach the same results by using other effects. But our case is just the write on effects, and if you can do the same with the stroke effect, for example, today I won't teach that. So keep that in mind, in After Effects there is not one single way to create one effect, instead there are a lot of ways.

dude how you make that scratch on the word Tool... at 00:8 sec .. how you do it, im trying to achieve the zorro logo effect, and it look like the one you did with Tool :o .. if you do please teach me....thanks so much

@Sue1551 You like that right? I spent 2 full weeks learning how to use adobe after effects, and this intro was the result of my frustration. Not bad, right?

I love scratching out the word Tool. :) What I did was I drew a line through the word as a layer, and then using a mask, animate the mask from left to right so as it is revealed you see the slash. Of course, I had a sound effect so it looks even more realistic. If there is enough demand, I can do a tutorial. - Versatile
