Later edit: I solved my issue by buying a new display which costs quite a bit.

I own a HP Pavilion dv2000 laptop which has a truly nasty display problem.

There were some white horizontal and parallel lines stretching from one side of the screen to another. They came around 1 month ago (at first there was one line only) but since then they multiplied). At first they went away if i swung the display back and forth until it got into the proper position in which the lines disappeared. Also, even if I had these annoying lines, i could still see the display refresh itself meaning that i could see whatever it was supposed to display.

2 weeks ago, the issue got worse since - unless i somehow stretch the display with my hand from the top left corner and keep it that way - the screen freezes, the white lines i mentioned earlier stay there too and some sort of cloud like changing color (blue to brown usually) spots begin covering more and more of the screen. On top of that the screen does not refresh the image to the one it is supposed to show.

I hope there is some with extensive enough knowledge to give me a hint as to what is wrong with the display of my laptop. I figured i should not have to replace the whole display (I really hope i am right on this one; displays are not that cheap) since it seems to be working just fine whenever I keep it stretched from the upper left side (I gotta force it seriously though).

PS I played this fragment of The Simpsons so that it is visible that the screen does not refresh the image.

  • same prob around the world.

in other countries outside usa do they have any policy to take it back or fix it?

not in Thailand tho. They require you to talk personally but not telling anyone until you claim to them first.

  • I was told it's the wire band that comes from the motherboard into the LCD.

I tried to write to HP but they sent me to one of their partner service in Romania who does not even import the necessary parts to fix HP equipment.

I'm cured of buying HP stuff from now on.

  • @TheHolyheadshot if you display is messed up not even with external monitor will work

  • I 've also same problem.I can show the HP service centre .But they told mother board problem.Any body help what i will do

  • I suggest buying a new laptop. HP won't help you on a decent way. They'll make you pay way to much for it. At least they did it to me and 4 friends who had a other display problem. They even tried to make me pay 20 dollar before they even would help me how to send my laptop to them. 20 bucks for just the way you should ship it! I'll NEVER buy anything from this crap company again and I suggest you don't do that either. But since this is over a year old. How did it end up for you?

  • i am shizzle

  • omg mine dose that too please help

  • BTW you can use an external monitor

  • Haha my friend has this computer! He watches lots of porn (which is disgusting cuz he tells me), he broke the charger, dropped it on wooden floors tons of times, then his sister spilled water into the keyboard. It stopped working for months then started working today, on his birthday! How ironic. But the screen still does this. Is it worth $80? He acts like a Jew when it comes to this stuff and I don't expect him to buy it, but yeah just wondering.

  • @miroxzx dont buy it

  • @vercety now? nothin', earlier I was going to buy this laptop,so I was just checkin out ur video, that's all ;)
