Finally, something new of Aimi playing Chopin's piano concerto no. 1 with the Tokyo Junior Orchestra Society conducted by Toshiaki Umeda.

She played only first movement because of the time limit as the concert was dedicated to 200 years of Chopin's birth and there were performing a lot of other pianists. It was broadcasted on 31th October 2010.

  • Aimi infuses every note with pathos. She addresses the heart, and in listening to her, one becames enraptured in an estatic conversation. She transcends the notes themselves, enveloping one in an experience of mystical contemplation. How can she do this at only 15 years? It is a gift from God held in trust by Aimi for the world.

  • @existentialist18 Of course Rubinstein's performance is better! Why on earth would you feel the need to compare a 15-year-old to Rubinstein? I'm sure Rubinstein's own performances at age 15 wouldn't stand up to comparison with his mature work. That doesn't change the fact that this is a genuinely felt performance, as I'm sure you would believe if the picture were replaced with that of a European male.

At any rate, Aimi is wonderful as always here!

  • I am slightly confused. On the one hand this is absolutely wonderful, on the other, there's something not quite right with the notion of wunderkinder in the 21st century. Perhaps pacing life a little more naturally is not a bad idea to ensure a long, happy, creative life that has some poetic value. Want to write bravo here, but mustn't. My daughter's (1yr old) first piano lesson: 2016. As for playing Chopin, she has to fall in love first.

  • @stanhin "When you overpractice, the music seems to come out of your pocket. If you play with a feeling of 'Oh, I know this,' you play without that drop of fresh blood that is necessary. At every concert I must have the unexpected, the unforeseen. I want to risk, to dare. I want to be surprised. That way the music can bloom anew. The act is the same, but each time it's different."-Rubinstein. Or, if you're more into this type of performance, I can pop you some popcorn and you can enjoy the act.

  • @existentialist18 wrote: "I hate to say it." Good because the rest is bs.

  • A littler girl but a great pianist.

  • @concerto35: She could do it when she was 5. She can do it because, as you say, she transcends the notes (material), becoming music itself (spirit).

  • I hate to say it, but I don't think there is that much emotion in it at all. I much prefer seeing a 80 something year old Rubinstein pour years of life into his piece; something that just can't be compensated for at that age. She is very talented, but it's just not the same.

  • great youth orchestra!!
