  • why is the bass on most 3-rows in a rectangle shape instead of diagonal?

  • Hi - this bass layout contains the standard diagonal Stradella 96 bass system - but extra bass buttons were added to the Shand Morino which had a 105 button configuration. Fantini have copied this to make it look the same as the Shand Morino. There is no practical reason for the extra basses and I think they were added for aesthetic effect to make the instrument look more balanced on each side.

  • Lovely tunes Graham, and very nicely played. I LOVE the tone of the Fantini accordions. They've got supr Scottish tuning

  • Cheers! The Fantini that I play was specifically made for Scottish music - they are supposedly emulating the Shand Morino - but I think they have a disinctive sound all of their own and actually surpass the Morino in the quality of the reeds.
