@LibertyWho At 14:13, The Windmills of Your Mind played on piano by Henry Mancini. Composed by Michelle Legrand for the 1968 film The Thomas Crown Affair, it took the Academy Award for best original song that year. Come check out my channel for a compilation of some amazing music. chuck

@leo9Hawk To the heavy metal acid rock set, Beach Boys were indeed easylistening. My ears have always been keyed in to this genre. The sheer musicality of BB harmonies might cause some to lump them into EL, but in the truest sense, they are not EL. I can see how someone could pull that sort of stretch here. I myself preferred them to the guitar&drum only groups. You should hear them acapella - incredible. chuck

There is some interesting music in this episode - but the interviews are often simply historically inaccurate to the point of stupidity.
The Beach Boys may not have been acid rock, but they were not "easy listening."

Almost too amazing to consider that I have met both Monica Mancini & Tamara Conniff, and the incredible Stu Phillips from part 2 of this series. Two trips to LA & one to Attleboro, Mass, to meet my musical heroes or their children just to say 'thank you for the music!' This is too amazing to see my heroes of music so glamorized in this BBC production! Jeepers . . . .

at 11:00 - Mantovani's 'Charmaine' 1951, but his arrangements were by Ronald Binge - Mantovani was merely the front man for his own 'sound' & the first artist to sell one MILLION albums in STEREO, starting in 1958. Amazing when you consider that stereo did not come to the airways & automobiles for SEVERAL more years!
