In 2006 Archaeologist and Presenter James Balme was joined by Time Team to excavate a site in Cheshire that James had been investigating for many years. During the three day dig James and Radio General recorded several exclusive interviews with members of Time Team. Dr Francis Pryor talked about his work, involvement in archaeology and his farming background.
This interview shows footage of Francis Pryor leading the dig in Cheshire with James and the rest of the team. This footage was shot by James during the dig.

  • PICLex - well obviously you MUST know more about the subject than a man who has spent 40 years as a professional archaeologist.

I think it is YOU that have the agenda.

Mr Pryor is a fantastic archaeologist who's work at Flag Fen has added a great deal to our understanding of the BRitish Neolithic and Bronze ages.

I think you need to read a few more books.....

  • @PICLex... Ive basically read about 15 different books regarding dark age history in Britain and watched numerous programmes regarding this subject and from there formulated my own theory! Forgive my spelling and grammer as i am severely dyslexic!

  • @ed2000888

Oh no reply huh, surprise surprise, the CAPS and SHITTY spelling gave it away.

  • @ed2000888

Hi. Thanks for the reply, that is interesting, but i can't really verify one way or the other as im not an archaeologist. It's good to have various, insightful points of view. I think Francis P, has problems with 'conventional' views, and this i can understand, for any field of endeavour, convention is often the realm of 'thickies'. Anyways i'd like to know more, what are your sources?

  • @PICLex ... and culture that Mr P is offering us this theory???? Also genetics has proved that people living in England are genetically simillar as people living in Germany & Holland whilst people living in Wales are genetiacally the same as the Irish! Francis Pryor chooses to ignore all these facts to suit his agenda! And while he might be kidding some people.. but not me!

I would like your resopnse please PICLex!

  • @PICLex ...was repopulated by foreign invaders who were the English speaking Saxons! All the evidence points to this! Farming during these times stoped, place names completly changed with no reference to there original ancient welsh names!... Events were no longer written and recorded!... Burial sites during these times went from being christian to pagan in a very short space of time!... Why did the Welsh on the other side Offa's dyke not see the appeal to adopt a foreign language......

  • @PICLex .. So why are there no welsh words in the English language???? Why is there only 2 place names in England with welsh language names? Why did the literate Britons stop writing and recording events all of sudden??? Why does Lloegr the wlesh word for England mean in old welsh lost lands??? Why does Wallia the old Saxon word for Wales mean foreigners??? Because i believe there was a plague that ravaged the Briton population of this time and the majority of what we now know as England....

  • @PICLex ...the Saxons not change there language? Because they were living in a predominantly English speaking country! Now to understand further i like to refer to the Saxons as ancestral English and the Britons as ancestral Welsh! Every historian will tell you that the language spoken by the Indigenous peoples of Britain until the introduction of Angles, Saxons, Jutes and Scots was Welsh!....

  • @PICLex ....and there culture! As they felt it was the right thing to do!!! This is just a story he has made up!.. A pack of lies! When has a race of people without being forced by warfare willingly changed absolutley everything about there cultural identity? When has that ever happened in history??? My point is when the Saxons were conquered by the French speaking Normans the language did not totally change but we do see an influence, words like cellar and mutton were introduced! Why did....

  • @PICLex Greetings thicko!... I am going to keep this very simple as i do not want to waste alot of energy and time but hopefully you will understand why Mr P is a LIAR! And yes i know who Lord Monckton is, he does alot of stuff about climate change, im not really a fan!... Anyway referring back to Francis Pryor's Britain AD: King Arthurs Britain FP says quote the Saxon's came in there hundreds and not there thousands!.... The people of Britain decided to change there language, there religion....
