...::Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman::...

*Part 1 of 5, episode 7, season 3 - 'Money Trouble'*

A leaded, beveled glass door becomes a symbol of Mike's earning power and Sully's lack of it when, Mike, despite Sully's protestations that he can't afford it, has Loren put the door on her account, and Sully, despite Mike's protestations that he should accept money from her, goes to work as a rodeo "mountain-man" to pay for it, as well as augment building costs to the house so that it'll be ready when Mike's family visits.

  • @5:25 i think michaela is like thinking the opposite of what she just said!!

  • I didn't think sully was that cute in season 1.. but as the episodes progressed he got cuter and cuter

  • Dr Mike is already a lot more independent and strong-willed than most women of the time period and now she wants to help pay for the house that Sully had his heart set on building FOR HER. We all have insecurities and Sully was no exception.

    Not that I agree with him.. I mean he knows that she makes a decent living on her own and to expect her not to use any of that money for the family when it's what she's always done isn't reasonable. But I can understand his feelings. Good to see both sides.

  • @FGP02 It's a pretty common film/tv plot. Men have historically been the 'providers' and there seems to be this almost subconscious thing where if the woman seems to be doing any of the 'providing' it makes the man feel almost like he's being accused of not doing his job well enough. That hurts.

    I've seen my dad beat himself up inside at times, not for anything like this episode, but when he felt like he wasn't providing well. Not something to shrug off- but of course it has to be balanced. ;)

  • :-/ I understand, but it really wasn't nice of mike to go ahead and order the window anyway after sully left without talking to him about it
