you should play 4:3 mode always even in 16:9 mode will always look stretched especally on 50 inch. I'd say 36 inch is max for tv to look good from up close. my tv is 42 inch and I sit away good 2 metres and looks great but closer up looks ugly

@ioport Soul caliber looks great in vga mode. If you have a hd tv the standard rca jacks makes it blurry and you still can see some jagged characters in certain games. Maybe a boob tube to cable to composite may look good from 128 bit to 16 bit.

can you use the VGA output for video and RCA white and red jacks for the sound? if not, how am i supposed to have VGA picture and surround sound?

In case of connecting for classic game consoles, I prefer aspect 4:3 screen. It's natural for original.

much better than shit normal av cables O_O

why does my vga box when hooked up only displays black and white

Dreamcast VGA graphics are jaggy as fuck and the textures look unblended and terrible. I really don't understand how guys like it. Yeah, better color and very clear graphics, but too clear. Makes beautiful DC games like Jet Set or Soul Calibur look like shit. I'll take a little standard def smoothing with my old school consoles.

My tv only excepts a 800x600 resolution which my Dreamcast obviously won't output. It plays on two of my monitors but not my tv. You or anybody watching this video wouldn't happen to know a work around for this problem. my tv just tells me i have an invalid video signal. The Dreamcast outputs at 60hz and my tv excepts 60hz so it's not the refresh rate. Thanks

Wow test drive looks amazing! I can't wait to get a VGA cable for my tv!!!

One thing I noticed: You got your VGA box hooked up to some PC speakers. You don't need to do this. You could just hook it up to your TV or stereo via a regular 3,5mm to RCA adapter cable. These go for like $3 at ebay.
I`m making a internal vga mod,but my electronic skills are side by side with those of a monkey and time is somewhat short! From what i`ve read, the internal vga mod has some advantages over the external box!`Can`t remenber wich ones though:)! I`ll be sure to post a vid when i`m through with it!!
Keep it cool! Cheers!

I was thinking of getting a VGA box but my plasma doesn't have a VGA input on it. I might try using a VGA-to-component adapter. Do you know if that will work?

@pcwzrd13 It should work, try it out and let me know. I see no reason why it would not work.
