Like all things Oregon, I am very proud of my state! Twice I voted to stop hunting of cougars and bears using dogs. I am pleased to know that our cougar cubs have a new home (they are NOT "mountain lions!"). Terri Irwin of the Australia Zoo, who is a native of Eugene, Oregon, raised a beautiful cougar a number of years ago before she moved to Australia after marrying Steve Irwin. Terry loves cougars and so do I!

Did you look that up on the internets? :)

Cougars don´t go by the taxon of felis anymore since various years and i hear "Pumae" as well as felix (sure, its latin for luck) for the first time in this context. Don´t tell BS if you´re not familiar with it.

What is it you dislike about that name? Many experts are even lazy nuff to just go with "the lions"... now that is misleading

Desert Lion, Prairie Lion, Crag Cat, Painter Cat, Catamount. In case you were interested, the Linnaen binomial is Felis Concolor (or Felix Concolour if you live in a country where elements end in -ium even if they shouldn't), and the cladistic multinomial is Pumae Puma Concolor.

I'm sure whoever rescued those cubs knew they were orphans, but how they quantified that is a mystery to me. Usually close proximity to baby carnivores is a bad idea.

Tho that is true tell me, if you saw two less than five pound animals starving with no parent in sight would you leave them? They were starving and I am happy that anybody would save these poor animals and I would be one who'd pick them up and take them somewhere they could live....but thats just me
