Lockheed Martin/Boeing F-22 Raptor is a single-seat, twin-engine fifth-generation fighter aircraft that uses stealth technology. It was designed primarily as an air superiority fighter, but has additional capabilities that include ground attack, electronic warfare, and signals intelligence roles. 1 unit costs about US $150 million. United States Air Force considers the F-22 a critical component for the future of US tactical air power, and claims that the aircraft is unmatched by any known or projected fighter, while Lockheed Martin claims that the Raptor's combination of stealth, speed, agility, precision and situational awareness, combined with air-to-air and air-to-ground combat capabilities, makes it the best overall fighter in the world today. Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston, Chief of the Australian Defence Force, said in 2004 that the "F-22 will be the most outstanding fighter plane ever built."

  • This plane can do ground attack as well as a secondary role.

  • @eyeAMtwinkEE no one knows the price not the manufacturer, the usa or canadian government but the canadian PM pledged during the recent election it would costs $75 million wihout any proof of contract when everyone else says it will be double that. it was awarded contract no tender. it is a ground attack aircraft not the long range interceptor canada needs to patrol and defend its large northern border. its stealth capabiliies are seriously under question. many design flaws found ......

  • @PlaneAU If you understood the context in which that video was taken you would understand what was going on. It was a standard USAF training exercise in which the dogfight initiated WVR, with the T38 at the F22's six already. Also keep in mind the pilot was a ROOKIE. Not to mention the fact that the F-22 CLEARLY was not trying to evade.

  • @rostant999 Citation need on the f-15 shooting down f-22 (according to war games, it's actually 9-10 f-15's shot down for 1 f-22). It's actually roughly 10 hours of maintenance per flight hour (pm me for source, can't post links there).

  • @rostant999 F-22 doesn't work as advertised? You're right, it works far better than the specifications given to Northrop/Boeing and Lockheed in the 90's. The avionics (what's declassified at least) in the F-35 are currently better than the F-22.

  • @rostant999 Not a good plane? How?

  • @cyberOwwwOecho Sure the missile technology is there to track and kill stealthy targets, but currently the radar and tracking systems aren't. RAF pilots have even noted that they will see the F22 visually long before (if at all) their weapons systems even register its presence. Good luck getting close enough to an AN/APG-81 equipped F-22 to deploy munitions, you'll likely be engaged at BVR before you even have the chance to respond. That is why the F-35 and F-22 are so dangerous.

  • @reynaldzuniga6 Why put them to the test if apparently you already know the end result? The Su-37 isn't even a production jet retard.

  • su37 vs f22 LETS PUT THEM TO D TEST!!..RUSSIAN JET IS THE BEST!
