To see this in the UK search the 40D site.

Always lovely to see an SM on the road, after all it's so rare to see! Not sure about some of the comments from a technical point of view, I think some of what he's mentioned have now been resolved by SM experts; but we forgive him as he does seem to like it.

  • Agree he is quite enthusiastic overall about the SM and I think he should. For many people these cars are so odd they never would consider buing one. It takes time to step into a better world and for those who did, they will never regret it. I have been driving Citroen CX since 1988 and I´m loving it. I am totally addicted. At the moment I have two CX25 Turbo´s with same ultra fast Diravi power ass steering. Also got a XMV6 from -92. Have a nice day!

  • @SRB7207 - Aah, interesting, you've been Citroened for a long time now, I had my first in 1998, an XM. In total, I've had the 7 CX's as mentioned, my favourite being my 1985 Prestige Mk2, really lovely, with a cloth interior; I've also had in total 14 XM's (mad I know) my favourite being the 2000 (final year) 24v, which I've had 3. I don't have one at the moment, and I do miss them; I'd like to try a C6 next, although I do hope to have my first DS in the next few years ;-)

  • actually it is over 40 years since the SM was introduced, amazing to say the least. The car was far ahead of it´s competitors and still is in many ways. The driver here hasn´t yet realized that the car is almost self steering thank´s to Citroens superadvanced steering system called DIRAVI. He handles the steering wheel like it was a lousy Escort. Big mistake until you have learned to handle it. Usually only one hand in the 6.30 or 5.30 position is needed, very very relaxing thrust me.

  • @SRB7207 - Yes I'm not a massive fan of this presenter, and some of what he said, but as he liked the SM overall, and it's always just nice to see one driving on the road I thought I'd include it on my channel. Yes DIRAVI/ DIRASS is wonderful, I've driven the SM although not owned one, but I have owned 7 CX's, and it's extremely helpful; the first time you get in to a 'normal' car afterwards, you think, 'Why isn't the steering wheel moving back to the centre!' ;-)

  • @SRB7207 - I didn't realise that this clip was that old, but as he says '30 years ago', it makes this clip from around the year 2000.

  • Air conditioning can damage an engine? How can someone say that with a straight face?

  • @ToyKingWonder - This is actually true, although fortunately this original fault has been fixed, as long as your SM has been to a good garage that is. I believe the engine was set up in such a way, that when the AC was engaged too much stress was put on the system, the AC then failed damaging the engine & in some famous cases causing fires ;-)

  • This is from Deals On Wheels - there's a link underneath the like/ dislike bar to the full show. When I uploaded it I had no idea it was still on 4OD; but even though it's blocked in the UK, I left it up for everyone else, as no one would ever find it in any normal search.

  • what is this show called?

  • whaht a nice movie
