@MrDeluxe99 Lay prone with a BAR and change the magazine - then you'll appreciate why the Czechs put the mag on the top. You did know the Bren was adapted from a Czech design, right? The "BR" stands for Brno, the "EN" is Enfield.
Oh, and the magazine capacity of the Bren was larger than the BAR = partly because it's on top.
And look at what the Bren replaced - the Lewis gun (an American design), and where was the magazine on that? On top - easier to change when prone...

@andykissner IIRC, the MP3008 had the magazine fixed vertically. While the Sten's magazine housing could rotate down 90 degrees for storage and transport, they had to be horizontal to feed.

It's a better weapon than most people think, if you know what you're doing with it it can be pretty effective.

@zombiedrd an Ak-47 is the wepon to make more knockdown power for the same price
When the zombie outbreak occurs and all the weapons factories are down, this is the weapon to save the day. They are simple and can be made in small workshops. This would be what you should arm people with. Easy to make and repair.

@kevinrocks2323 Cheap to make, yes. Inaccurate and unreliable,, no. They fire reliably with good mags. damaged mags don't work in any gun. Open bolt is common among sub machine guns and some heavy M.G's. The Thompson fires from an open bolt. As does the Browning BAR, M-2 fifty and the M-60. The double stack mag works fine as long as it is clean, same as many "Hi-Cap" pistols. Mag position has NOTHING to do with accuracy. I'm a gun smith of many years, Have built many for Class-3 customers.
