BEST NATIONAL ANTHEM IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE. Period. *Can anyone guess the names of popular actors whose images are included? Two of my favourites are in here.

@emergencyCALL911 Aww, I wish someone could recommend a great, inexpensive Russian learning system for me. I'm going to get the book you mentioned, but I'm sure there'll be things I need to learn that aren't in it.

Not the best. It's an old one from the 50's, so it's a bit out of date. I only use it because it's there. It's called Essentials of Russian by A.v. Gronicka and H. Bates-Yakobson

I wish I could afford to go back to college and minor in Russian. Surely that'd get me near-fluent.

It might prove easier with a modern language though, there'll be more opportunity to practice it. I'm learning Biblical Greek and Hebrew in college, but obviously they teach it in a way that's oriented toward reading it, not communicating in it. My approach to Russian is much different, even though it's grammar oriented.

Yeah, I can relate. I have the same problem. I'm trying to remedy it by using a more conversation oriented textbook now that I've learn't the grammar that it skims over in what I consider a very badly organized manner.

I'd definitely recommend that book to you though. It only costs about ten bucks on amazon, but it's got so much in it for such a little book.
