The objective of acoustic source localization is to find an acoustic source from data provided by disparate acoustic sensors (computers with microphones). When monitoring a large area, the sensors will be spread too far apart to establish a communication network. Instead, we use an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to collect the data. While this research has several goals, here we have optimized the sequence in which the UAV visits the sensors so as to enable a fast source localization. This video first shows the UAV taking off, and then views of the localized source from the downward looking camera onboard the UAV.
