    actually, the trees do not grow as much on the south facing slopes of the mountains...they grow really well on the north facing ones. Trees were not cut where you see the "bare mountain". One side of the valley (the really sunny side) has smaller shrubs & bushes because that is what grows there. The other side of the valley (the north facing side) are lots and lots of big beautiful trees and forests with deer, elk, moose and all kinds of animals. Americans DO care about our trees & life.
