Jussi and his two brothers sing this arrangement of Psalm 4. Pardon the poor recording quality, but the date on the recording is listed as 1920.

  • What a find! Where did you find this? I would assume that Jussi is the lead here. You can definitely see the qualities in the Bjorling voice, melancholic and heroic.

  • It came as a bonus track on the album "His Last Performances 1959-1960."

  • I always thought of his early years as most likely hard ones as many references to his starring role as the family's top singer with what must be called an astounding voice sent from Heaven. One person on the whole planet! God gives out this VOICE to one and Jussi Bjorling stepped forward and carried it like the guiding angel he was and we all were instantly better for it. This...Jussi knew and he never let us down.

  • I think we have much to thank the father for.

  • There is an 11 y o Swedish tenor that sounds like Jussi! Theo Christenson! (found him here on YT the other day.)

  • If this is a quartet....who is the other singer if it is Jussi and his two brothers....the father playing instrumental?

  • An acoustic manifestation of aurora polaris - dazzling and moving: "Besinnen dock att HERREN"

Best thanks for sharing this with us.

  • Thank you so much for posting this precious & rare recording! These voices cut straight to some deep part of the heart. It is profoundly moving. As an adult, Jussi's glorious sound often inspires another dimension of musical experience for me. You can hear this quality in the young boys as well.

  • It's like being able to hear the child Mozart play the piano. Very moving, and how different their sound is from the Vienna Boys Choir sound. Very heroic and manly.... already. There must have been some significant instruction from the father. And he has that characteristic Bjorling sadness..... Of course his mother had died, he traveled on the road working, with an alcoholic father... poor little one....

  • I didn't think there was any recordings of this quartet! I am so pleased to have found it!

  • How sweet...the trademark Bjorling timbre can be heard in all three of the brothers. Magnificent, a real gem.

  • Too precious that it chokes me up
