20 February 2008
Nigel Farage,
Strasbourg parliament building

The European Parliament votes on the Mendez de Vigo/Corbett Report which endorses the Treaty of Lisbon on behalf of the Constitutional Affairs Committee.

The Report rejects calls for referendums on the Treaty and amendments in that direction were voted down by the Majority, including Amendment 32 which called for the Irish referendum result to be respected by the European Parliament.

This video includes interventions of that day by MEPs Nigel Farage (UKIP leader) and Jens-Peter Bonde (Danish June Movement), both Co-chairs of the Independence/Democracy Group in the European Parliament.

Hounded by security guards, filming was with difficulty, especially in the Hemicycle, where we were kept under constant watch. The "Three Referendum Chickens" were not allowed to move freely, as other campaigners are when they are not dissenting against EU totalitarianism.

LET THE PEOPLE DECIDE!

Go to http://X09.eu and demand for a REFERENDUM in your country on the Lisbon Treaty, the rejected EU Constitution in disguise.

Note on EU Constitution and Lisbon Treaty:

The people of France and the Netherlands rejected the proposed EU constitution in the 2005 referendums. After this, 5 countries that had promised a referendum cancelled it and the EU Constitution was re-written as an "amending treaty" or a "reform treaty" and named "Treaty of Lisbon". On the basis of this deceit, they now maintain that no more referendums are necessary. Only Ireland is holding a referendum. All other countries are ratifying the disguised EU Constitution without asking the people.

The EU Constitution establishes a new "European Union" with joint citizenship - an EU "federal" State that is technically and politically empowered to further centralize power in Brussels; a European State comprising of 27 nation-states ruled by a triumvirate of European institutions led by the unelected EU Commission, which serves as the governing body of the Union. With co-decision powers to block legislation, but never to initiate it, the European Council comprises of representatives of the governments of member states. This ineffectual co-decision process is shared with the European Parliament, which is the only directly elected institution and the only channel for European citizens to possibly reverse the totalitarian trend and preserve freedom and democracy in Europe.

  • Get out of EU before it's too late, the way EU is going, I hope it will be a peaceful separation later on, but I see violent revolt in the coming years!!!

  • Thank you Mr. Farage, well said. Of course they are afraid of the referendum because people would reject it! And whats more, the formation of the classic Franco-German pact that would like to dictate the rest of the EU states. What else is new?

  • @TheTenners Mark my words, it will get worse. 1) no one likes to be ruled by the unelected officials from Brussels, 2) no one likes to pay other country's debt forever............the worse days are coming before it will get better. Forget about Greece, Spain, Italy...........watch the movement in UK, Germany, and even some Scandinavian countries.

  • @moderndesignworks 3 years later... here we are

  • don't work

  • Bien hecho Señor Farage / Well done Mr. Farage.

  • With this video it should be obvious to all that "democracy" is the tyrrany of 51% vs 49% or even worse when controll panels of democratis parliament are not working efficiently or even aren't working at all.

This EU is another example of democracy vanishing into tyrrany and dictatorship if the people(s) are sent to sleep in their slavy lives.

  • i can't see this "europ" working together, half the contrys hate eachother anyway. make them work together? good luck with that dicktators.

  • 06:02 EU parliament security taking down names of people who dared to dress up as chickens!

  • Does anyone other than I think that Nigel Farage looks and sounds a lot like Tim Curry? ;)

  • Withdraw from the EU, they run things like a Soviet era puppet state

  • we (Ireland) did tell them No,but they said try again and like fools we did and said yes? and they said good lads, thats what we like to hear.democracy is a joke, there was so much scare mongering and outside interference from other nations, people were told we'd end up with no jobs, left behind as europe soared ahead.funny how we are going down the swanny now. interesting times.people better wake up,
