Not to mention the specifics. I don't know how much you know about Japan but based on your explosive reaction I'm going to guess not much. There are no bodies to speak of here, the Japanese cremate their dead, so that's not quite so repulsive. Secondly this building is well maintained with the utmost respect for the deceased. Proper ceremony is observed so it's not just some morbid thing. When you think about it it's much more sanitary and welcoming than a graveyard, much less morbid.

Wow, what is with all the animosity? They aren't freaks, this is a solution to a very big problem in Japan. There is no real space to intern the ashes and make new graves, land is hard to come by in Japan and what little there is is astronomically expensive. There is also a problem with temples charging a ton for funeral services, the average cost is 2.2 million yen, that is roughly $27,000 american dollars, give or take. This presents a solution both for space and money.

awesome!! I would probably stick some cheese in one of them when the person wasn't looking. Haha.

It sounded like they were cremated with the comment that 99.9% of the deceased in Japan are cremated. But I do see where your train of thought was (it would probably be even creepier if they were in fact bodies!)

i thought they were all bodies and not cremated
