There's a much more simple explanation than dementia: stress. In that first debate, George W. Bush was much younger and hadn't gone through a governorship, four years of being president of a country at war, and several very difficult campaigns. I know the longer I talk, the less coherent I become.

I am not joking but I think he may have caught lyme disease. It is common to get on farms etc. and it effects your thought process. I know people who have gotten it and it is hell. I am not making a judgment as I have no info.
