@framboise595 (3) I don't know what other women think, I only speak for myself. I don't have a sense of 'hierarchy or authority' because I don't believe in it. Men are not my superiors. I can respect my partner without devaluing myself. I believe in two people leading together and it does work in relationships. As for women being stupid I would say it's just the ones that believe in submission and think women should sacrifice their lives to serve men. It's just shameful!

BOY. HOW DID I HEAR THIS GROWING UP IN THE BIBLE BELT. I HEARD SO MUCH IN THIS SECTION OF THE COUNTRY THAT WAS AWFUL, CONFUSING, HARMFUL, INCORRECT, AND DOWNRIGHT HUMILIATING. I AM VERY SURPRISED BY HIS COMMENTS BECAUSE I NEVER HEARD THAT FROM ANY OF THE MEN , PRIEST,RABBI,MINISTER WHO PREACHED.

I agree with Mark because here in Romania and in east Europe we have this alot. The woman is even worse that what mark is sayng:shut up, make children, cook,clean, isolation, at his disposal, no time for her, no vacation, no jewlery(wedding ring),only dress( no pants=sin),no right to talk or say something in church or gatherings, she comes second and most from all she needs to be readyall thre time when he wants sex,take care of children alone, wear head top all times in prayers and church,etc.

@619Terbz Yes you are absolutely correct, there's a way which a man must conduct himself unto his wife, and it's a huge responsibility one only a man of God through Christ Jesus can do. The man must love his wife as Jesus Christ loves his church, he must live and die to protect her. THIS IS A HUGE TASK! This is why Christians are not to marry a non-believer in God and Christ; nevertheless a follower of Christ must perform what the scriptures says even if their spouse fail to follow theirs.

@Xeonxtreme I do agree with you on a fair bit of what you said. Interestingly enough, got these here as well (in the same passages):

Eph 5:25

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

Col 3:19

Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.

Now looking at those texts in their entirety, I believe that God is fair and just ~ He would not ask women to do such a thing like submit & men and let the men free treat their wives anyhow!

Ephesians 5:22

Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

Colossians 3:18

Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.

The scriptures says wife submit yourself unto your own husband as it fit in the Lord (Lord Jesus Chris that is). NOTE, that it did not say husband submit your wife unto you. It's not the husband job to make his wive submit, a woman of God ought to willful submit to her own husband. Don't marry a rebellious woman, run!

I always hear pastors skip over the wives submit verses, say that's been covered enough in the past, and start talking about what the men are supposed to do. Then the wives never hear any practical teaching on submission. I hear that a lot more than teaching wives to submit.

Submissive people will submit, those who are born leaders and the "doers" of this world may be male or female. No one has to conform to some antiquated mythology. It is called freedom and the pursuit of happiness. Each to his or her own!
