@Debutante24 they're not lasers, they're visual manifestations of their powers for the viewers/readers to see what they're doing to eachother psionically.
Theres plenty of commentary from the various uber-telepaths about psychic attacks having physical effects.

@JayBarrington Elizabeth 'Betsy' Braddock A.K.A Psylocke was a British. She was a twin in fact. But, a ninja/assasin named Revanche switched bodies with her, and her telepathy was split between her two bodies. Unfortunately for Betsy, Revanche died while in Psylocke's original body, trapping her in Revanche's body permanently. Shortly after, se received the other piece of her telepathy from her old body.
