He has been a flop for almost a decade but he has made some good films.

LOL! In Adaptation he's rehashing a character he played in moonstruck and valley girl (trust me. i've forgotten more than you'll ever know about movies "kid."). Leaving las vegas is basically him playing himself. He's a shitty meathead actor, this isn't a new thing either. The reason why audiences go to see him is because they don't get that they're also fucking morons for seeing him as a bad actor. He is a caricature of what an actor is supposed to be. It's what he's paid to be.

Yes, that's why he won an Oscar for "Leaving Las Vegas" and nominated for best actor for "Adaptation" as recent as 2002. Although they're not an end all in terms of quality, it's a pretty good indication. You've got some films to watch kid.
