Broadway musical and opera Diva SHEILA WORMER and TONY LA STELLA sing "Be My Love" by Sammy Cahn & Nicholas Brodszky in in the scene from Salute to Mario Lanza, taped in performance during the six year International Tour. Costarring Ms. Wormer and Mr. La Stella, and co-authored by Mrs. Wormer and Thomas Chambers, the show played a six year International tour and received three 1997 Hollywood Pillon Awards, including Best Show of the Year for Ms. Wormer and Mr. Chambers and Best Vocal Duo for Ms. Wormer and Mr. La Stella. Joe Curreri [who played baseball with Mario Lanza in South Philadelphia and was publicity director in the Mario Lanza Institute and museum for 35 years] wrote in the Italian Tribune News: A sell-out crowd sits in silence anticipating the country-wide tour Salute to Mario Lanza. The lights dim. The curtain rises, and the spellbinding magic of Mario Lanza takes over. In colorful costumes, a thrilling tenor and a vivid , exciting soprano sing duets and individually, and they take your breath away. La Stella closely captures the Lanza style without ever being an imitation. Likewise, Wormers performance is reminiscent of the great divas who shared the screen with Lanza. Her rich powerful soprano brings memories of Kathryn Grayson. Festa Italiana raved: After booking this show for three consecutive years, it continues to draw a large receptive audience, seldom leaves a dry eye in the house, repeatedly receives encores and standing ovations. A high note extravaganza!!! Sheila Wormer has performed over 50 roles in opera, operetta, musicals and plays including Butterfly (Madame Butterfly), Mimi and Musetta (La Boheme), Tosca (Tosca), Magnolia (Show Boat), Kathie (The Student Prince), and Lizzie (110 in the Shade). She has appeared with such companies as Cleveland Opera, Columbia Artists National Tours, Salzburg Music Festival, Tampa Bay Opera, and M&M American Dance Theatre. Films include the Independent release of Every Vote Counts, also starring Tony La Stella, which received First Prize in the 2004 Philadelphia Film Festival and First Prize in the Monte Carlo Festival (Satelite Division) that same year. Sheila and Tony are both featured soloists in the film soundtrack for Every Vote Counts and can be heard on numerous musical theatre and opera recordings. Sheila Wormer is playing to SRO crowds on tour in her acclaimed one woman show I Feng Shui-ed My Suitcase: a life in song, which Variety praised as A touch of class, without a flaw!
