Repaired a friend's battered BOSS MT-2 Metal Zone; and in the process, also tried implementing some easy alterations to the pedal, dramatically changing the "nasal" sound.

Features of the basic modifications done:
- the nasally (a.k.a. "cocked wah") mid tone is gone
- assymmetrical clipping (replaced a couple of 1N4148 diodes)
- much improved equalization, and fuller distorion
- replaced the status LED with a bright blue one

Temporarily borrowed the pedal knobs from my MT-2 (yes this relic'd baby has its knobs missing) to be able to record four settings, via M-Audio JamLab USB interface. Used a Les Paul Copy loaded w/ DiMarzio D-Activator X bridge pickup. Best viewed on HD 1080 setting!

(Again please excuse the lame guitar playing heheh!)

  • Are the GTX mods you've made the same made to the Metal Zone? Could you share, please? Thanks.

  • sounds awesome good pickup choice! thx for sharing, I need to try this mod otherwise I'll sit for hours tweaking knobs looking for a tone that doesn't exist on a stock pedal...
