they didnt want to have to do that to get the truck out but clearly limited on equipment and time and the fact there was a worry about the tide coming in a really losing the truck, jesse made the call to do what needed to be done to get the truck out.
jesse is a very good driver, it was just a racing deal. it's what makes baja, the unknown and the variables of racing down there. it what makes baja more exciting then daytona, indy, and monaco combined.

ok here's the deal since i did get to visit the crash site at that race.
the vid starts showing that even at slow speeds that section does jump out at you. when jesse was racing he was coming up on a car and in heavy dust. he "peeked out" and found himself going off the cliff. it was a hard impact (clearly) and the fact that both driver and co-driver were un hurt is a testament to the cage work.
