I love crysis but C3 on 360 looks bad, & the last time i looked there was about 300 people playing witch is terrible

With the Wii U, I'm really enjoying pretty HD graphics. HD makes anything non-HD look blocky and pixellated. I can appreciate attractive graphics.

However, I think any improvement once you're already HD will be comparatively subtle. Draw distance should improve over PS3 and 360, but I think that's mainly because those systems don't have much RAM.

The games that put graphics over gameplay look really silly in retrospective. Old games that had good gameplay are till fun to play despite outdated graphics though. But there are also certain genres where graphics are more important than in others. The racing genre grows with the technological advancements in graphics because the gameplay in a racing game is basically the same it was in the 80's. You don't move your controller much different. So, that is one genre where graphics are important.

The last Final Fantasy game that I could honestly say I truly enjoyed and would love a modern re-imagining of is Final Fantasy 6 (Known as Final Fantasy 3 in the US)

The reason why we spend so much time playing older games that we have had for several years is because gameplay matters more than graphics. There is always going to be a better "looking" game out there somewhere but what keeps bringing us back to play games from previous consoles from previous gens over and and over and over is the gameplay of those games. The replay value. It's a delicate balance for developers to decide on how much frosting they need on the cake.

True, I went a little too far, but Square Enix really pisses me off for not making another Chrono Trigger game and countless Secret of Mana games that suck.

Love your vids but Square is not trash. They have fubared Final Fantasy series and waste too much time with tech demos. Save the trash for EA, that is where the landfill resides

Gameplay matters way more than graphics, but pretty graphics don't hurt either as long as it doesn't take precedence over the gameplay.  Developers need to focus on the gameplay first though, then if they can make the game look pretty. There's so many games that people love to play and their graphics aren't the greatest, like DOTA 2, LoL, Minecraft, World of Warcraft, Bit Trip, Sims, Animal Crossing, Guitar Hero...etc.
