  • Ottoman??? Must be a joke. Mevlana lived in Konya. At that time Konya was under the Seljuks. He was born in place known as Vaksh, now in Tajikistan. Balkh at that time was the name of the province where he was born. He wrote all his works in Persian and not Turkish.

  • People love to debate and argue to claim Rumi as one of their own, but they apparently forgotten the core values Rumi had preached.

He might be Ottoman, Persian, Khorasan or whatever, all that doesn't matter, for what truly matter is to shed love of SELF and to give up oneself, to acquire THE Love of the Beloved.

  • :)

  • Not Persian he was Tajik from Afghanistan

  • @koheghazal1 He was born in Afghanistan, from Persian parents, but lived most of his life in Anatolia .. Mevlana was 100% Ottoman.

  • ازبلخ به روم امد ني رومي و نه بلخي

واز شهر جنون برخاست ني مست و ني ديوانه
