They actually do have the same engines. Its called the M113 and the SLR just has two intercooler instead of the E55's one. The only difference is the intake manifold. An E55 with a pulley, header, tune, and exhaust would keep up with the SLR

Lingenfelters top speed is 240 mph and does the quarter in the high eights to low nines I believe. And they do track just fine. Hell if they don't do the corners quite as fast they will more than eat them on the straights. Depends on the road course and the location. Odds are a Lingenfelter would eat that thing for breakfast and cost half as much.

Lingenfelter? Dont even get me started on that! Sure it can go faster in a straight line, but it probably has only 170 mph top speed! Also European cars have this thing called handling, so take the corvette round a track with corners and it'll understeer right off. Unlike the SLR.

The SLR is much faster, and the sound of the SLR is the nicest sound in the world :D but nice things is expensive things. The E55 amg is a "normal" car. but if you got one you never will be fare away from any car you races. but everyone want too be the fastest:) SLR <3
