Over The Decades Many Folk Songs Have been Written, and Sung about The Battles which Took Place Long Ago in The Lands of Ireland, Scotland, and in The Highlands of Scotland.
These Battles Generally over Land Disputes, Political, or Religous Beliefs were Fought Long, and Hard. Sometimes To Victory, and Sometimes Lost with The Pain and Suffering of Defeat.
Generally, All of The Battles were Fought, and Culminated with Great Loss of Life.
Possibly a True Story, Possibly Traditional Folklore...Only The Generations of The Past Would Know.
Yellow Haired Laddie Is About Just One of Those Great Battles which Took Place Long Long Ago...
About A Young Man Leading His Fellow Soldiers (Also Known as Clansmen) into Battle With his "Pibroch" Playing (Another Name for the Bagpipe, and The Type of Music Played on This Instrument) http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/pibroch and

The Young Yellow Haired Laddie Becomes Immortalized in Song after He is Surrounded, and Killed in Battle by The Opposing Forces. His Lifeless Body is placed on a Bier.
( A Bier is a Stand on which a Corpse, or Coffin Containing a Corpse, is placed to Lie in State or to Be Carried to The Grave.)

Even the Maidens are Saddened, and Their Faces Grow Pale, as off In The Distance They Hear The Sounds of The Caralat (A Bamboo Instrument which Produces a Crackling Sound)
