@TexasGunTalk Nope, the Fins. Suomi 50 coffin mags. The was an 80's import named Spectre M4 as well. I heard the Russians did a quad for the AK 2000. Magpul seems like they have an entry in the running as well. MD Arms is supposed to be making a dual stack 12 gauge mag as an option to drums for the Saiga shotguns. I got tired of waiting and sold my Saiga. Glad I waited for the Shrike though. Screw mags, belts are "better."

@gregomhb Suomi 50 round coffin mags were the first, followed by the Spectre M4 in the 80's.

M16 gets plenty of feed problems with regular mags, can only get worse with these.

just look at how steady that weapon looks firing off those vicious rounds....

@gregomhb remember the spectre 9mm from italy?

@gregomhb There was a quad-stack 50 round magazine manufactured during WW 2 for the Suomi m-31 smg, nicknamed "Coffin-magazine". The patents and license were as I recall obtained from the Swedes, who developed the 50-rounder as a simpler replacement for the 71-round drum, I know it was before 1939 but can't remember which company originally patented it.

@TexasGunTalk - A few minutes researching on Google found a few other examples... it's hard to say who actually invented it. Either way this is the first iteration i've seen which appears to have some reliability issues resolved. I hope to see more in the future...
Copying the Russian's? I think they've had quad-stack mags for awhile now... not sure who actually invented it, but this is the first time i've seen it on a non-Russki firearm.
I've always wondered about the reliability with these, clearly it is getting improved.

@gregomhb ... over 1000 rounds with no issues on short and long barrel MGs, SBRs, and long guns. The mag loads smoothly the whole way and there's no hitches along the way. It's a great design and a great product.

@TexasGunTalk - Looks good for sure... i'm just wondering who invented quad stack mags first though. Either way this looks awesome.

@gregomhb I think the Russians did, I could be wrong though. I'd like to run an AK74 with a quad stack.
