If I recall correctly, these 100+ segment Dragon or Centipede kites prefer a good breeze to get airborne, 3 to 5 beaufort. And they will be difficult to launch at the low end of 3 but will probably stay up if the wind drops to that. So around 10 to 20mph. The discs are only paper and bamboo, so stronger wind flying is risky.

Just one amazing thing about this type of kite is, that the individual discs would not fly on their own as they have no inbuilt sability, and yet as a whole, the 'train' on discs does very well. I love it!

I believe it was around 300ft (100 meters) long .. but I did not measure it. It is not my kite. I think it was custom made and brought here by the owner.
