Phoenician founder of Thebes and brother of Europa taught the the Greeks the alphabet, which he had brought from Phoenicia. Cadmus, in search of his abducted sister Europa, settled in Boeotia, which some say he invaded with a Phoenician army, founding in this new land the city of Cadmea, later called Thebes. Cadmus is credited for having combined consonants with vowels, thus teaching the secrets of correct speech. These events took place approximately 00 years before the Trojan War.................................. The Phoenicians who came with Cadmus . . . introduced into Greece, after their settlement in the country, a number of accomplishments, of which the most important was writing, an art till then, I think, unknown to the Greeks. At first they used the same characters as all the other Phoenicians, but as time went on, and they changed their language, they also changed the shape of their letters. At that period most of the Greeks in the neighborhood were Ionians; they were taught these letters by the Phoenicians and adopted them, with a few alterations, for their own use, continuing to refer to them as the Phoenician characters—as was only right, as the Phoenicians had introduced them.

i read somewhere that a hellenic civilisation from crete, introduced an alphabet to the phoenicians, who in turn, brought it to mainland greece sometime afterwards. but who knows

it is not without a reason roman empire used to call them greeks which means thief in Rome empire language. finally greeks (latin thieves) stole east rome empire(byzantine empire) heritage and fame tp themselves while it was italian rome people made it glorious.

The usual propaganda by a Bulgaro-albano- gipsy they call them selves with the Greek region name “MACEDONIANS” ,I want to know how much have you pay all of you to write day and night bad comments about Greeks .My opinion is you lost your time every one knows the truth and everybody knows your really location of your profile. If you like so badly the Greek culture first you need to learn Greeks to discover the meaning of Macedonia (with their names) culture is not so bad to be a Slav!
