Rich Hall won the Barry Award (named after Barry Humphries) for best act at the 2013 Melbourne International Comedy Festival. I think that's quite interesting. Kinda.

I believe it's bleed air from the engines used to generate the vacuum for the vacuum toilets in most airliners...

I always thought that the book didn't just remove air resistance... it creates a pocket of lower pressure air behind it which "sucks" (for lack of a better scientific vocabulary at the mo) the feather down with it.

Has the Mythbusters even did that bullet fired from gun vs bullet dropped experiment? I know they did the bullet dropped and fired from a 90 degree angle myth.

you can try the experiment at home. get yourself a heavy book and a feather, or a small sheet of paper.

hold them out in front of you and drop them at the same time. the heavy book will hit the ground first but only due to air resistance. if you place the feather on top of the heavy book and drop it, the heavy book will remove the air resistance from the feather and the feather will hit the ground at the same time as the heavy book. Its a strange thing to watch.

Surely the thing that's irritating about the thought experiment is that if you attach a light object to a heavy object then you have created a heavier object, not one of medium weight?

I love the bit at 11:06. Stephen with his clever facts about the weight of gold and feathers and Alan's facepalm reaction to it. XD
