Kettering University Summer 2008 EE Capstone. We built a solar powered RC car. We had to design and build the chassis, select a DC motor, solar panel, build power maximization electronics, make it all work, and race the other teams.

  • @svbln balsa wood, light, cheap, easy to use.

  • that a good idea charge it for two day and then race

  • Except that we didn't have any storage devices and only used the energy that was instantaneously available...

  • What is the name of the song that starts at 2:15?

  • congrats

  • How electronic circuit work? Reducing voltage and incresing current for climbs and acelerations?

  • Wow complicated stuff here.....

Haha your team pushed it so hard!

  • I did a similar job as my ECT final project.

I just took a Nikko RC car 1:16th scale car that used 4xAA batteries and used a LM317 circuit to charge the batteries when I switch the motor off. The Solar was attached to the rear as a "spoiler" and it looked good.

The only problem was it took a while to charge. The bottom line was I got a A for it. =)
