Oh my goodness, what hateful words for people you don't know! Lighten up the attitude and have more fun in life. Video-We have all done silly & fun things. They aren't afraid to share. Give your password to an appreciative friend & hit delete when you don't want to buy. Any recipe I have tried has been delicious. Love the mailings that lead to recipes and videos. Its like going to cooking class. Their TV prog. is very informative and I love their attitude.
@Chazm66: I subscribe to "Cook's Illustrated" magazine and I watch ATK every week. I don't subscribe to the website. I like CK's e-mails -- he's a very good writer and so what if his life in rural Vermont is different from mine in the City. Neither the TV show nor the magazine have any commercials or ads. They're certainly entitled to promote their own cookbooks. If you don't want to buy them, then don't. If it's all too much for you, just cancel your subscription and stop griping.
Chasm66 it is interesting that you can so intelligently complain about ATK but you are not SMART enough to unsubscribe. The link is just a little further down in the note you obviously read. It only takes one click. It is such an easy answer to "your problem." which leads me to believe you enjoy being pained and whining about it.
There are other videos that show exactly how it's done. Take this for what it's worth, a quirky insight into a Christopher Kimball dinner party, and yes that's his voice off camera. And chazm66, all I can saw is wow...throw away the magazine and unsubscribe from the e-mails and live a happier life. Why would you even come looking for this video or read the diaries if you hate them much. Odd, let it go.
You know why I don't care that I get the emails (I will agree they are, perhaps, too often)?
Because every weekend I get to watch their excellent show on TV without ads. This means that the ENTIRE show is dedicated to cooking, not using 5 minutes of every 30 for lead-outs and lead-ins on top of the 10 minutes of ads.
Think about that for a minute. I love the show and really learn something for free. What's to complain about?
I must have missed something. How did he do it?
I know it involved the napkin....but little more than that.

Hate is a pretty extreme word for a benign subject area. Did you forget your meds today, Chazm66?
