Native Americans and Social Justice

This is a project made by me for the need of having awareness of Native American history in order to have a more just modern society. The song is called ly o lay ale loya by sacred spirit.

For me, there has always been this deep respect and wonder for other cultures because they enrich the world and the people therein. My middle and high school classes were just not cutting it for me because it was always the same material; European history, world wars, etc. As I took interest in looking at history and such outside of class or reading some of the material not required due to time limits or whatever other limits they imposed, I became aware of other plights in history and one that really captured my attention was the history of Native Americans. This video gives some quotes of the ideas that I was enlightened by and still provide thoughts that I can't help but ruminate over as I contrast today with yesterday and such. My main thought when making this video was that the Kennedy quote is really true. Not acknowledging our full history as a nation, not understanding what happened means that we can't possibly try to learn from what happened in order to hopefully someday heal instead of trying to ignore something so horrible by purposefully sweeping it under the carpet because that is what really gets my attention and maybe the attention of many other people as well. Hopefully this video will at least open up some ideas that may make one wonder enough to look more into such social injustices that have existed and still exist today instead of just focusing on what others decide that the curriculum needs are.
