An Old Japanese Bamboo Tenkara Rod 1-古竹和竿で毛鉤釣り 1

This bamboo rod was made either in 1948 or 1949. It is a ten-piece rod for the max. length of 10 feet. It has its craftsman's engrave; "佐久てんから・渓流竿" "竿金," indicating the rod is for trout fishing, made in Saku style, with his name - SAOKIN. The rod was originally my grandfather's, that I inherited directly from him many years ago. I still use this rod few times a year in Los Angeles area and in High Sierra, solely for fishing small streams, thus for small trout.

62,3年前に製作された竹の和竿を持って、ロサンジェルス近郊の小渓流へ行ってきました。竿は、10本継、10尺、「佐久てんから・渓流竿」「竿金」（竿金は東作一門）­と焼印の銘が打ってある祖父の形見です。今でも年に数回、ロサンジェルス近郊やハイ・シェラの小渓流で、テンカラ、チョウチン毛鉤釣り、ミャク釣りと、魚信を忘れない様に­ニジマスやゴールデントラウトの小物相手に頑張ってもらっています。同じバンブーのフライフィッシング用、カーボンのテンカラ用の竿とは、まったく違う調子に翻弄されます­が、またそれが楽しみの一つです。

FYI. The rod is Japanese made. 「竿金-SAOKIN」is a craftsman brand that is a part of 「東作-TOSAKU」 group of traditional Japanese fishing rod craftsmen guild . The guild can be traced back to 1788. When my rod was repaired several years ago by 東作, I verified its authenticity and value. Thank you for watching and the comment!

well, You can go for trophy size XL large trout to sensitive enough for Xtra small trout with that rod. I had it long ago got rid of it . Same here, From a Chinese next door Uncle .
