The Roman conquest of Britain begun in AD 43 under Emperor Claudius, whose general Aulus Plautius served as first governor of Britannia. However, he want the first roman to try to do so as the great Julius Caesar did expeditions in 55 and 54 BC.

  • Love this stuff. I live a couple of miles from where the Romans first landed. I've dug up roman coins in fields. In my town, they've just found a roman villa that was there hundreds of years before the roman conquest. These means they were already here in many ways. This video doesn't mention the fact that the Romans had been trading with Britian for years, and many actually lived here. Infact, it's a bit light on the facts. A watered down version of events. Interesting though.

  • @kimokamal5 define what a Barbarian ! lol and i think you'll find they were all extremely civilized or my degree oh Roman Britain has been a waste of 3 years........................

  • 5:11 This is a COMPLETE LIE!!!!! Ceasar defeated Britain. He did not make it part of his Empire, because they had NOTHING of worth.

  • actually there has nothing to do in Britain. that's why British even invaded a lot of Asian countries to find natural resources. nothing useful thing grows in Britain but just a bunch of arrogant tongues.

  • @Rotebuehl1 Right back at ya! :)

  • @Dmanlamius76 Thanks for answering so promptly ;-) Happy 2012, by the way...

  • @Rotebuehl1 I live in a town called Folkestone :) They originally landed in Deal.

  • @Dmanlamius76 What's your town then?

  • @motomallen am not talking about the Britons am talking about the Saxons, Vikings and Normans. U may be right about the Persians and Romans being violent but not the Egyptians, the Egyptians were never violent. cheers.

  • @kimokamal5 but if you look at the fact that Ancient Egypt, Persia and Roman society was ruled through violence i think you'll find they were the Barbarians not the Britons who, i may add, already had a quite sophisticated society ran with community laws not using violence, traded with most of the known world and had successful industry and agriculture already in place that the Romans coveted.
