The scrapage scheme was a crime against UK tax payers. China didn't want our paper promises so took the metal instead and the money we borrowed from them left the country too as very few of the qualifying cars are made in the UK .
I was chatting to a friend of mine who works for a leasing company. They'd arrange a deal for one of their clients to purchase a brand new Porche Panamera. It cost the individual an incredible £103,000.00. The same company agreed a deal to buy the car back after just 3 years for... guess how much... £33k. That's a loss of £70k in just 3 years! I agree with you, buy second hand.
I agree 100%. It's the incessive compulsion to keep up to date, lead by the media that's partly responsble for getting us into the mess we're in. Second hand cars rock, not least becuase after just a few short years they loose a shed load of their value in depreciation even the though car itself is in fantasic condition.
@bayhoecott. I completely agree - 10 years is nothing for most cars providing it is looked after well. My year 2000 Rover 45 1.8 has now done 140k miles and its quiet, smooth, comfortable, powerful.....probably got another 10 years of life left in it!
All of those cars are shoddy pieces of crap, or they certainly will be in a few years time. I bet NONE of them will last as well as that Rover. On the subject of the Rover, notice how they have purposely choosen a really tatty example.....probably removed the hubcaps them selfs to make it look even worse lol - good cars those 200's.
