@CEnforce Well SORRY. Normally I write 'series', but I was just talking with someone else about season 1 of Battlestar Galactica so I forgot. There's no need to have a hissy fit - clearly if this person didn't even know about the ending of The End of Time then I'm not going to confuse them by accidentally calling it 'season 4'.

@CamilleonProductions season 4 was in 1966. Series 4 was in 2008

@dollymixturedaydream No, season 4 was 2008. In The End of Time part 2 (which aired on New Years Day 2010) the Doctor goes back and says goodbye to many of his companions - including Rose - just before he regenerates.

@Browncoatt22 If both hearts are stopped the doctor still dies. Also, vaporization, disintegration, and certain kinds of poison are still a threat to him, a fatal threat. And if he is fatally wounded mid-regeneration he can die a permanent death as well.

Billie piper - 2010? was that when season 4 came out?! omg i thought it was longer than 2 years!

@CEnforce Ok ok, so it wasn't perhaps the current writers decision, but it's still a mistake in my opinion. As he is he is potentially immortal, like a vampire, he COULD live forever, but if he runs out of lives then he is a goner, same as if a vampire gets staked. But give him an endless supply of bodies and he IS immortal. That's the problem I have really. I guess unless you can kill him inbetween regenerations, surprised no ones managed that yet really...
-
@Browncoatt22 Well, to be fair, the writers had been planning on working around the regeneration limit since the late 70s.

@CEnforce I loved Tennant as the Doctor, but I feel he outstayed his welcome a little, they kept him around longer than needed to boost ratings. I would've missed him more had he gone sooner, but by the time he left I was ready for a change. Eager even. With Eccleston I was genuinely gutted he was gone so soon, that gave a real sense of loss. And now with the Doctor not going anywhere after his 13th state, it ruins the whole idea for me. It's just greed pure and simple.
I really, really do not understand why Donna Noble never makes the list for most people. She was one of the most amazing companions the Doctor Ever had. I can't think of any companion that had grown as a character more than Donna. Not to mention, Donna IS the doctor as a female. Her outbursts and posturing gave way to a humane nature. I can't think of any companion what-so-ever that can compare in character development in the shows history.
