  • Definitely is the Cryan Shames from Hinsdale , Ill.... Left to right are ..... Lenny Kerley, Jim Pilster (JC Hooke) , Denny Conroy, Tom Doody (Toad),, Isaac Guillroy and James Fairs.......

  • Ya know, I'd never compare the Shames and the Beatles (apples and oranges), but the Shames do a really nice rendition of the tune written by the guys from Liverpool..

  • Why not display a photo of Ed Bolin who had to leave the group to get into the air force? He should also be acknowledged. How do I know Edward Bolin was an original? I am his first daughter. I need another ORIGINAL Cryin Shames member to contact me again so I can send some photos of dad this time. PS I have something to share with band members only...yes, it is a song my dad wrote. I know dad would want the band to perform the 2 songs dad wrote.

  • @73849309378 The Beatles had written and recorded it but it had not been released in the US. The band heard it and wanted to record it and release it but the Beatles said no and released it instead.

  • @MikeMeldan Yes that IS the Cryan Shames. There is a British band around the same time called the Cryin Shames and there was a legal battle back then.

  • @rons0916 Lenny lives in California as well as Toad. Toad comes to Chicago and sings with the band when he can. James Fairs moved to Florida but recently moved back to Chicago and has a new band he is working on.

  • @jlbaker2000 Hooke has a deformed hand from birth. He wore a cast iron hook on it to cover it up. Thehook is now on the wall at the Rock and Roll Cafe in Chicago.

  • The pic is from the Cryan Shames' "Scratch In the Sky" album lineup with Lenny Kerley and Isaac Guillory. Jim Fairs was my guitar idol. His jangly guitar on the first album inspired me to play guitar also. I loved the sound of his Gretsch guitar through the Fender Dual Showman amp. The pic shows their Guild guitars that they played through Standel amps during that phase. They were a fantastic band in the day.

  • If I needed someone this would be the place I would go to ..... Toma's Timeless Tunes.

  • Musically, this pic shows the best Shames line-up, although there are a few changes from the band who recorded this song. This was a strong group on stage, to be sure!

  • I know -- I realized weeks ago from a Chicago rock photographer friend that I got that wrong. I humbly thank you. I don't take offense at being corrected. A former bf of mine gave me an autographed pic of Rick Nielsen decades ago. The bf was from Hinsdale, and somehow I got the impression, the way he carried on, that CT reigned from his home town, and were practically his neighbors.

  • @jlbaker2000 cheap trick was from rockford
