People reason that since he was in war, he knows how to handle things in Afghanistan and Iraq. In the same vein, people reason that since he had a hard time in war as a POW, he has the determination and drive to handle the position of president.

Personally, I don't like the way he keeps bringing it up. I like knowing imporant points like that to help make decisions, but nobody likes it constantly shoved down their throat.

I'm an australian though, so I'm speaking from the outside looking in.

I agree Iran shouldn't have nuclear weapons. But so does Iran, and it's not just Ahmadinejad bullshitting. He's the engineer president, and the notion that Iran can technologically and economically develop is very important to their national psyche, even though they hate their president.

The fact that most of "we" don't seem to know these sorts of things about the country means "we" don't have the RIGHT to make those sorts of decisions.
