UPDATE!! for those who think that something like this has never happened before.....in 1970 Al Gore campaigned in military uniform with his father, Albert Gore, Sr.; Richard Nixon campaigned in uniform, touting his status as "Lt. Commander Richard M. Nixon," against Helen Gahagan Douglas; and, as a piece in Commonwealth magazine points out:

"Nineteen forty six was a good year for World War II veterans running for office, and many of them campaigned in uniform. Among them was a resident of Boston, a former Navy lieutenant named John Fitzgerald Kennedy."

@1226Theman The delegates are controlled by the G.O.P and will go en mass to the establishment candidate. Not sure what polls you are looking at either. Look at the Rasmussen poll on who would beat Obama, Ron Paul. Every other poll shows the same thing. Just wait until the caucus here in Washington state, it will be all Ron Paul.

@1226Theman He has the most fierce base and his rallies always overflow. The last rally in Sea Tac WA. went too was so packed that people had to stand in the parking lot. The establishment is afraid of this man because he supports the constitution and has always maintained those idealistic views. He is not a tool like romney, santorum, ginrich, obama.

@mdmjwarner hah, it's not at all surprising the DoD would pass a provision that prohibits the free speech of military service members in uniform. apparently it's reasonable to send these men to die in these unjustified foreign wars, but we can't allow them to speak their opinions about it in public.

@nerblebun Well said. The truly sad thing is these politicians took an oath to preserve and protect our constitution as well. Do they still lay their hand on a bible as they swear in? I know they used to. And claim to be Christian as they willingly violate their word.
