  • I agree Garrett Morris was one of the most underrated SNL performers @ that time. He led a skit where he played Tina Turner singing Proud Mary that left me laughing so hard I needed oxygen. Nothing but Kudos to you Garrett.

  • I wanna see the prison talent show audition scene where Garrett Morris sings "I'm Gonna Grab Me a Shotgun and Kill All the Whiteys I See".

  • @sweetuc BaseBall has been Berry Berry good to him.

  • I get tired of Eddie Murphy getting all of the praise where SNL is concerned. He was funny sure, but Garrett Morris was talented, too. He was the first black cast member, having come along before Eddie. Problem was I think the writers didn't really know what to do with him, which was the reason he wasn't featured more.

  • Junior King. :D

  • Yes Garrett Morris was one of the original black entertainers of SNL before Eddie Murphy.

  • saw him on an episode of different strokes,a really funny guy.

  • I'm...gonna...get me a shotgun and kill all the whities I see!

  • He is quite accomplished too. He sings and studied at the Julliard school of Music and graduated from Dillard University. He's been on broadway numerous times too....

  • I just get the feeling that Garrett Morris was never used properly on Saturday Night Live! I was always hoping he would break out and he finally did it with Chico Esqela. I don't understand why he wasn't featured in more skits.

  • Wasn't it a copy of Jet that Homer Simpson tried reading in the Kwik-E-Mart once and he excitedly exclaimed "Whooohoo! It's Garret Morris's birthday today!" This reminded me of that.
