This is an Earthlearningidea activity 'Metamorphism - that's Greek for change of shape isn't it?' The first part of the video shows how elongated clay minerals in a mudstone become aligned as they recrystallise under intense pressure in the Earth to produce the metamorphic rock, slate.
The second part shows how rounded particles in a limestone (or sandstone) recrystallise under intense pressure in the Earth to form marble (or quartzite).
