  • Flowers are in place by the crossing to mark the recent sad event Lets hope they also serve to remind us what still can happen until changes are actually made to the present situation. Long term is not good to hear. Do we want to hear of an uninformed visitor to Watchet having the same experience? It could happen.

  • @AS With respect, do you agree it is best to await the coroner's report before this incident is further discussed here.

  • @WestSomersetWizard Sure. There could be even more complications when it is!.Any info when that is likely to be?

  • @ADMIRALSCORNER The recent Law Commission report states on Network Rail, there are nearly 4000 public crossings of which more than 2000 are public footpath crossings. There are a further 2600 private crossings of various types.

  • @WestSomersetWizard Are there as many as that? That figure seems very high If you have the info how many pedestrian only crossings are there I wonder?

  • @ADMIRALSCORNER He may not be sympathetic when it comes to paying for changing all those Network Rail crossings. Difficult call for ILG, eh?

  • @AS The Free Press report said early in the New Year, I think.

  • @WestSomersetWizard I have not heard of any such contact. Our local MP has been videod in recent times riding on the footplate of a passing train so I quess he would be sympathetic. I dont know if he is aware of what has been going on. I notice this weeks local newspaper did not cover this event in any way, are they loosing interest I wonder?.

  • @AS Just a thought - if local people think the national regulations are not helping the situation, then it may need a political intervention, and I wonder if anyone here can advise what the local MP has to say on the subject? I'm sure he'd welcome a change in the regs that could mean up to 7000 crossings being changed. Anyone contacted him yet?

  • @ADMIRALSCORNER Personally I think it's people like Clive start to get things moving at a much faster pace than would otherwise happen....some people need a push and he seems the man to do it....Bob
